They apparently don't know the area; as they steered me very badly 3 times. I've been staying here for over 20 years and it's fine. There were hardly any space in the bathroom either. There's a lot of space to sit and relax, and they also have an expresso machine for guests to use, so that was a nice gesture. The policies listed are provided by the property.

The cold cuts for breakfast were great quality. Popular with large families on a budget it seems. I found having to turn in the room key every time I left to be a minor annoyance. Breakfast is very nice however and the harried staff are patient and friendly. There's a lot of space to sit and relax, and they also have an expresso machine for guests to use, so that was a nice gesture. I would not recommend this hotel.

If there was one area of concern it was how warm the hotel was which made sleeping ever so slightly uncomfortable but it really was a minor thing. When I complained and asked for another room, the desk staff said I'd have to wait till the next day. However the price was very reasonable, considering we were in central Amsterdam. For the area, I don't think this place is unreasonable, but don't get too excited! Our fantastic location, atmospheric accommodation and excellent service guarantee you one of the most pleasant overnight stays in Amsterdam. Close to Centraal Station and pretty much within walking distance to the city center. Please note that cultural norms and guest policies may differ by country and by property. The hotel is overlooking a canal, and there is so much to do in walking distance.

Martelaarsgracht Tram Stop is 5 minutes away, and offers links to all main Amsterdam attractions. Our room was clean and well maintained, but extremely tight. Quite unique in old houses in Amsterdam, the hotel has a lift. Room and beds were comfortable and clean although the bath could use a little updating. The modern rooms have en suite bathrooms with hairdryers and a free in-room safe. Amsterdam Central Station is 200 m away.

A simple continental breakfast is served each morning at Singel Hotel Amsterdam. The staff are informative and really nice. Yes, there were some really nice staff, but the rude ones outweighed the rest. Do not ask dining advice from staff! I really liked their dining area and lobby. A public parking garage is located about 400 m away. The hotel was in a great location, walking distance to central station, city center, and many restaurants.

Nope, not going back there, ever. And when I did, that staff person lost her temper with me. Right next to the Koepelkerk, this quiet hotel is set in 3 renovated 17th-century houses on the Singel Canal. WiFi didn't work half the time. Also, I thought the staff was very nice. The staff were amazing, so so friendly. My husband and I stayed here in 2011. Staff were untrained, often unresponsive, often rude.
